The Snakeboard Pro with Straps in a bed of leaves

Should you Strap in to Your Snakeboard?

While it may seem a scary prospect strapping yourself into a Snakeboard, much like riding a road bike with clip in pedals, there are a lot of advantages that come with it.  Read our following guide below to find out the key reasons, and when is the right time to strap in!

1. When is the Right Time to Strap in to A Snakeboard?

If you are brand new to the sport, we would not recommend strapping in until you are comfortable with the movement, can ride up steepish hills and can carve down hills at a decent speed without getting wobbles.

Always wear appropriate protection and be aware you do so at your own risk.

2. Which Snakeboard can use Straps?

Of the two Snakeboard models only the Pro 2.0 has holes for straps.  This is because the Comp 2.0 is aimed at riders who are under 14 which we do not recommend strapping in.

3. Which Snakeboard Straps do you Recommend?

FWD Snakeboard Straps

Even though the Snakeboard Pro 2.0 comes with holes for full on Snowboard style bindings. We recommend the FWD Cross Straps: Designed specifically for the Pro 2.0.   Locking in only your foot and not the heel means if needed you can pull your feet out, especially when getting used to the sensation of strapping in.

4. What are the Benefits of Strapping in to a Snakeboard?

The main benefit is you gain a greater level of control.  Your feet are fixed in the perfect riding position, enabling you to lift your feet slightly as you ride. They will also open up the possibility of power sliding to a stop much faster than riding without.

FWD Cross straps also allow you to truly ride without ever taking your feet off the board. Hop up curbs, over tree roots or any other obstacle as you carve to your destination.
